About

My husband is my best friend, and he knows me better than anyone. He is the calm to my sometimes frazzled mind and body. He also makes me laugh—which is a daily medicine to me. He is my greatest encourager in life, and I love him dearly. I am grateful for God’s provision in teaching us to be honest and transparent with one another as we grow together in all the many seasons of life.

We have two amazing children—ages 12 and 9. My son and daughter inspire me, motivate me, teach me, challenge me, make me laugh and remind me what matters in life. They make my heart swell with love for each of them.

If we met in person, I would love to dive right into your hopes, dreams and how your past story has shaped who you are today. I like to go right into deep waters of life and skip the surface talk. I love to pray with and for others, I love leading middle school girls within our Church family and giving them biblically grounded courage to face the hard things in life. I love learning and growing by taking bible study classes, meeting with those who have walked the road ahead of me and being involved in spiritual formation groups. I am currently working on a certificate in spiritual formation as well as a certificate in spiritual direction.

Some people may be curious about the spiritual framework that shape a teachers yoga class. For me, I am a follower of Jesus. I welcome all people into my classes and love meeting people from different beliefs and backgrounds. The physical movement of yoga that I teach is used to promote health, gratitude, and awareness—not to practice a religion. My inspiration for teaching comes from my relationship with Jesus Christ and the things he continues to teach me about myself.

I took my first yoga class in 2005 with my older sister in Charlotte NC. I remember it well because I had no idea what I was doing! Yet I loved it. I eventually decided to get my 200RYT (registered yoga teacher) after seven years of going to classes. I got certified under Grace Morales in 2012. I am grateful for that experience.

I have also spent hours training under other yoga professionals across the world for workshops, clinics, and classes over the last 20 years. I taught classes for a local gym for a few years when I first got certified and then took a break from teaching as I was working full time and having little babies. But my practice never stopped—the movement of yoga has been a part of my rhythm of life since that first class in 2005. I started teaching again in 2020 with a local gym and a local yoga studio . Today, I continue to teach with the YMCA.

A false identity around yoga is that you must be thin, flexible, super chill and able to stand on your head to come to a class. The reality is that you show up just as you are each day! God already sees and knows it all. We are just invited to move our bodies, breathe with awareness and let go of those things that hinder us! India has gifted the world with a tremendous tool for keeping us healthy in our mind and bodies. I am grateful for how yoga has reached me and the way God has used parts of this practice to influence my life in a positive way.

The biggest truth about me is that I am a work-in-progress. Who I am today is not who I was 10 years ago and it will not be who I am in 10 years from now. But I live with great expectancy and hope. The only constant in my life is the fact that I will always “be loved” by Jesus—I am His beloved eternally. I do not have to do a thing—he loves all of me and His spirit is calling and shaping me daily. My mind, my body and soul get to experience this love here and now. He holds and cares about it all. For that, I am grateful.
